Best Bars in Guangzhou: Cocktails, Chinese Spirits and Views

For Guangzhou bars, start with Hope & Sesame if the cocktail program is the main attraction, DSK for a more intimate room, Bar SanYou for Chinese spirits, or Too High for a high-rise view. All four have a current operator or hotel reference, making them useful anchors for a visitor planning from abroad.

Hope & Sesame is No. 1 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026. That updates the older award positions still circulating in social posts. The remaining order below is our editorial comparison by occasion, not an award ranking. Research was checked on September 3, 2026.

1. Hope & Sesame: Guangzhou’s award-led choice

The award organizer’s current profile places Hope & Sesame at 58 Miaoqian West Street — 庙前西街58号 and describes its entrance behind a Cantonese café. Reserve through the operator’s official channels rather than assuming the street-facing room is the whole experience.

A February 2026 Rednote visit also focuses on the hidden entrance and interior. That practical detail is more useful for arrival than its older ranking reference. Ask which space you are booking, how long the reservation lasts, and whether a deposit applies. If this is your only Guangzhou bar evening, leave enough time to explore the menu without rushing to a second district.

2. DSK Cocktail Club: choose the room as well as the bar

DSK’s own page describes a three-floor venue with distinct spaces. Room Service on the second floor has ten seats; The Suite above has seven bar seats and two booths. This is a better choice for a deliberately reserved small-group evening than an improvised large-party crawl.

The published address is 启明一马路1号. Use that Chinese text for navigation because English road transliterations vary. Tell the team which floor and seating format you want. The operator advertises separate booking sessions; clarify the end time before assuming one reservation covers the whole night. A small room can fill quickly even when the building looks substantial from outside.

3. Bar SanYou: taste Chinese spirits through cocktails

Bar SanYou describes a program using spirits sourced within China, including baijiu, whisky, gin and amaro. It is the most relevant choice here if you want to explore Chinese distilling through mixed drinks rather than order a neat spirit simply because it is local.

The official address is A127, Foreign Business Xintiandi, Guangzhou Avenue — 越秀区外商新天地A127铺（广州大道）. Ask the bartender to explain the base spirit and flavor direction. If baijiu is unfamiliar, state whether you usually prefer citrus, herbal, bitter or spirit-forward drinks; there is no need to pretend every local spirit will suit your palate.

4. Too High: the view-led evening

Too High at Rosewood Guangzhou occupies the 107th floor, at 6 Zhujiang East Road, Tianhe — 天河区珠江东路6号. Choose it when the skyline and a hotel setting matter more than finding a small neighborhood bar. The hotel lists a smart-casual dress code.

A January 2026 visitor report notes the elevator changes and differences between seating areas. Use that as a reason to ask the hotel for arrival instructions and the terms of your specific table. Its posted prices and window-seat conditions are not reproduced here as current promises. Check visibility and whether the seat you reserve actually has the view you want.

Dongshankou or Zhujiang New Town?

For a cocktail evening, pair an unhurried Dongshankou walk or dinner with Hope & Sesame or DSK. Choose one as the main reservation; make a second stop only if timing and availability work. Although they share a hospitality group, the rooms are different experiences.

For a skyline evening, have dinner in Zhujiang New Town and reserve Too High. The tower location is a different plan from an old-city cocktail walk. Bar SanYou works best as its own spirits-focused stop, with dinner arranged near its actual Guangzhou Avenue address.
