Best Bars in Lijiang: Folk Music, Old Town and Shuhe

For Lijiang bars, choose between a folk-music evening in the old town and a lounge around Shuhe. Yilafu, Yunji and Lixiang Sanxun are specific live-music leads from recent visitor reports. Wen Hai Bar at Banyan Tree is the hotel-listed choice for a more lounge-oriented stop.

This is an editorial shortlist checked on September 3, 2026, not a citywide award ranking. Music bars change with the performers and the night, so a good visitor report is a reason to check the current program, not a promise of the same show. The independent entries have dated social evidence; the hotel option has an official venue page.

1. Yilafu: choose the band, then the table

A February 2026 visitor report highlights live instruments and a folk-band performance at 一拉夫, transliterated here as Yilafu. It is a useful first lead if listening to musicians is the reason you are going out.

Ask who is performing on your date and when the set starts. Confirm the current address and whether the reservation is for a table, a particular sightline or simply entry. We have not reproduced the post’s old performance times as a current schedule. If your group wants to talk throughout the evening, a music-focused room may not be the right fit.

2. Yunji: check the room and access

A March 2026 report places 云集 around Wuyi Street — 五一街 and describes an upstairs music space reached by a narrow spiral stair. The visitor preferred its atmosphere to louder venues, but that is an account of one evening.

Ask for the exact current entrance and whether your seats require stairs. This detail is more useful than a generic promise of a “hidden gem,” particularly after a full day on foot. Check the night’s music and seating before assuming it is a quiet room. Its current menu and hours have not been independently confirmed through an operator page.

3. Lixiang Sanxun: a folk-music lead in the old town

An end-of-March 2026 visitor post identifies 理想三旬 as an Old Town folk-music bar. Search the full Chinese name with 丽江 so that similarly named businesses in other cities do not confuse the booking.

Use it as another current-program comparison rather than assuming the same performers are resident every night. Ask whether there is an entry charge, table minimum or paid song-request system. Choose between this and Yilafu based on the band and the reservation you can actually confirm, not a numerical ordering of subjective reviews.

4. Wen Hai Bar: a Shuhe hotel lounge

Wen Hai Bar at Banyan Tree Lijiang lists cocktails, coffee and snacks in a lounge setting. The hotel is on Yuerong Road in Shuhe — 束河悦榕路, and its venue page lists a 12:00–21:00 service window and smart-casual dress code at the time of review.

This is a useful early-evening alternative to an Old Town music bar, especially for travelers staying around Shuhe. Confirm current service with the hotel before traveling. It is a separate destination from Dayan Old Town, so build dinner and the return journey around that base rather than adding it at the end of a distant bar walk.

Dayan Old Town or Shuhe?

For a folk-music evening, keep dinner near the confirmed Old Town venue, allow time to find the entrance and arrive for the set you booked. Narrow pedestrian lanes mean the car pickup point may be outside the lane where the bar sits. Save that pickup location before you settle in.

For a Shuhe evening, reserve Wen Hai Bar as a lounge stop and keep the rest of the evening nearby. If you are staying elsewhere, compare the actual drive before choosing it. The Yunnan route guide helps coordinate Dali, Lijiang and onward transfers without overloading the trip with different bases.

What should you ask about live-music costs?

Ask for the current drinks menu and clarify whether a table has a minimum spend. Check any entry charge, song-request fee or optional flower and gift cost before accepting it. A discounted package may apply only to particular seats, drinks or time slots; have those details written down when booking.

These are practical questions for music venues, not allegations about the bars listed here. The research sample included unverified accusations and old receipts that we excluded. For a mountain excursion or an early transfer the next morning, set a finish time before the show begins and keep the return ride straightforward.

If you want a cocktail counter instead of a folk show on the same trip, compare our Dali bars guide. For a larger city with both formats, see Chengdu bars.
