For Chongqing beer, choose Brew House for a seated brewery-restaurant evening, or investigate Caver and 立吞 for a more specialist local-beer stop. The biggest planning choice is the district: a Nan’an hotel venue, a Yuzhong cave-bar lead and a riverside taproom are not automatically a convenient walking crawl.

The hotel venue has an operator page. The independent names combine dated local reporting and visitor accounts; confirm their current branches and menus before traveling. Their order reflects different uses, not a quality ranking.
Brew House: the clearest dinner-and-beer anchor
Kempinski’s official Brew House page describes beer brewed in house alongside German-style dishes. It is inside Kempinski Hotel Chongqing in Nan’an. Use the hotel name as the destination so a similarly named beer restaurant does not send you elsewhere.
This is the more straightforward lead for a group that wants food, seats and beer in one booking. Ask about the house selection, kitchen service and whether non-resident diners need a reservation. A hotel brewpub may make sense if you are already on that side of the river; it need not be the best transfer from a distant Yuzhong hotel.
Caver: local brewing and a distinctive setting
A June 2024 iChongqing interview with the brewer describes Caver in an old air-raid shelter near Liziba, with beers incorporating local flavor ideas. This is a useful brewing story, but the article’s date matters: it is not a live tap list or a guarantee of visitor access today.
Search 洞穴精酿 重庆 李子坝, confirm the entrance and ask whether the brewery’s own beer is available. If you care about local ingredients, ask what is currently pouring rather than assuming the tea-flavored or other beers mentioned in the interview remain on tap.
Combine the visit with a nearby daytime or early-evening plan only after checking the street level. Chongqing map pins can look close while their entrances require a separate stairway, road or lift. A cave address adds another reason to save a photograph of the entrance.
What do 立吞 and 自然选择 add?
A January 2026 account compares 立吞’s house and guest beers with several other Chongqing bars. The writer liked some styles and disliked others, which is more useful than an unqualified “must go” claim. If you want a lighter beer and food, ask for both the current taps and the kitchen menu before choosing it.
A November 2025 comparison identifies 自然选择 as a lead for someone particularly interested in sour beer. The preference is personal; it does not establish that every sour drink on the menu will fit your taste. Describe whether you want dry, sharp, fruity or sweet flavors, then ask for a small serving where available.
How would I plan a Chongqing beer evening?
For Nan’an, I would have dinner at Brew House and keep the return route simple. For Yuzhong, I would check Caver’s current entrance and visit one beer venue after a nearby meal. For a north-city specialist evening, I would investigate 自然选择’s map pin before selecting dinner.

What beer should you choose after hotpot?
If the meal was already intense, choose a style you enjoy in a smaller serving and compare it with one contrasting beer. A lager, wheat beer, IPA and sour beer offer different flavors; none is automatically the right match for every hotpot diner. Tell the bartender how much bitterness or acidity you want.
Check the serving size and price on the actual menu. Do not treat a tasting flight described in someone else’s trip as permanently available. For cocktails instead, use Chongqing bars; for another southwest city, compare Chengdu beer.
